Mile 547

(L-R) Cory Anderson, Troy Ingram, Brock Seaward, Roy Keeping, Jolene Keeping

An aspiring singer wanted to sing at a talent nite in Port aux Basques but she needed a band to back her up...so...

A group of people got together one evening in the fall of 2003 to make a bit of music & see what happened. From that fine fall evening emerged a nameless 5 piece Rock 'n' County band with the ideals of playing music that most bands aren't covering.

Practice after practice came & went; then the call to play came. Sitting around the table trying to figure out a name; something that meant something, but was different, Says Troy. As the brainstorming went on, Brock was going through an edition of the local paper where there was an article about trains. Through a bit of deliberation, this is the reasoning behind the name that the band came up with. Port aux Basques was the "end of the line" for the railway, St. John's was the beginning (hence "Mile 1 Stadium"), now all we had to do is figure out how many miles down the track dear ole Port aux Basques was. We called a few old railroaders & we got the answer - five hundred and forty seven.

Since then, Mile 547 has played various different venues around the region. Highlights so far include a double header in Burgeo in the summer of 2003, Party on the Green 2003, Margaree Come home Year 2005, and a boxcar full of other fun times.

Members of the band are:

Cory Anderson (Acoustic Guitar & Vocals {booker / agent})

Roy Keeping (Lead Guitar & backing Vocals {manager})

Troy Ingram (Drums, Percussion & Vocals {band Logic})

Brock Seaward (Bass Guitar, Harmonica & backing vocals {pay master / Truck driver})

Jolene Keeping (Acoustic Guitar, backing Keyboard & Vocals {adds the woman's touch to everything the rest of band does})

Mile 547 are looking forward to entertaining you during Come Home Year Celebrations and hope to see our followers, locals that may not have heard us & new faces alike at the shows & out 'n' about the town.
